Beta terms
Short version: the beta is free and unfinished. Your games are yours. Don't use Lune to hurt anyone or break anything, and back up what matters to you, because things can still go wrong.
Who runs this
Lune is made by Tyler, an independent developer in Canada. Questions: [email protected]. These terms apply when you use the Lune editor or host a game on Lune during the beta. The privacy page covers what we keep about you.
Who can join
You need to be 18 or older and invited to the beta. Your account is for you alone, so don't share your login. If you think someone else has used it, tell us.
It's a beta
- It's free while the beta runs.
- Things will break. Features can change or be removed, and servers can go down.
- Your work can be lost. We try hard to prevent that, but keep your own copies of anything you can't redo, like art you made.
- If we ever need to reset projects, we'll tell you beforehand whenever we can.
Your games are yours
You own what you make and upload: your maps, scripts, art, music and writing. You give us permission to store, copy, run and show it only as far as we need to run Lune for you and your players. That permission ends when you delete it, except for copies that take a short while to clear out of backups.
We won't use your game to promote Lune unless you say yes first. You're welcome to share screenshots and clips of what you make.
Only upload things you have the right to use. The art, music and sound that come with Lune are from the Ninja Adventure pack by pixel-boy and AAA, released as CC0: free to use however you like, in Lune or anywhere else.
Your players
You decide what your game contains, and you're responsible for it and for who you invite to play. During the beta, only invite players who are 18 or older. If someone reports a game that breaks these rules, we may take it offline while we look into it.
Don't
- Break the law, or help anyone else break it.
- Harass, threaten or exploit people, or post hate, sexual content involving minors, or anyone's private information.
- Use scripts or plugins to get at other people's projects, Lune's servers or the machines underneath them.
- Attack, overload or probe Lune, or try to get around limits we set.
- Resell Lune, or run something on it that isn't a game, like a crypto miner or a file host.
Found a security hole? Email us before telling anyone else, and we'll thank you for it.
Feedback
Telling us where the tools got in your way is the point of the beta. We may use your feedback and ideas to improve Lune without owing you anything for them.
Founding Creator rewards
- Founding price: if you're a beta tester when paid plans launch, you'll get a founding price that doesn't go up while you stay subscribed. We'll publish the details before paid plans start, and nobody is ever charged without choosing a paid plan.
- Credits: you pick the name shown in the Founding Creators credits, and you can ask us to change or remove it at any time.
Leaving, and being removed
You can leave whenever you like. Email us and we'll delete your account and projects. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules; if it's not urgent, we'll warn you first. We can also end the beta. If we do, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, and we'll send you a copy of your project files if you ask.
No guarantees
Lune is provided as it is, without promises that it will always work or suit your plans. As far as the law allows, we're not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you've paid us, which during the beta is nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
The law
These terms follow the laws of Saskatchewan and of Canada.
Changes
If these terms change, the date below changes too. For anything important, we'll email you before it applies. If you keep using Lune after that, the new terms apply.
